Job Title: Full-Time Resident Imam (Community Leader)
Location: Anatolia Islamic Centre – Mississauga, ON

The Anatolia Islamic Centre (AIC) is now accepting applications to fill the position of Imam at our Mississauga location. This role encompasses the provision of religious services, social counseling, religious education, and representation of the Muslim community of Mississauga.

Position Overview:
The Imam will serve as a religious leader and role model for the community, providing guidance through prayers, sermons, education, and community support. The ideal candidate will be able to connect with a diverse congregation, inspire youth, and lead with compassion and wisdom.

Key Responsibilities:

Imam will report directly to the AIC Board and his responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Lead all Daily, Jummah, Eid, Janaza, and Taraweeh prayers.
• Deliver khutbahs and sermons in English (additional languages are an asset Turkish and Arabic).
• Provides counseling and guidance services including family, youth, social issues, matrimonial, divorce and other services.
• Develop, organize, maintain, and deliver regular Islamic educational programs (e.g., lectures, study, halaqas, workshops) for the community at all levels.
• Lead the fundraising activities at our centre regularly.
• Engage in community outreach programs and public relations for Islam and Muslims.
• Engage actively with the youth through programs and initiatives to inspire their spiritual development.
• Collaborate with the Centre’s leadership and volunteers to support community events and initiatives.
• Works with Mosque management and other staff members to run various community services.
• Any other duties assigned by AIC board.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Formal degree in Islamic Studies from a recognized institution.
• Knowledge in Islamic discipline, including tafsir of the Qur’an, the seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), hadith and its collection and usage, and aqidah.
• Knowledge of fiqh to teach and counsel the community on matters of Islamic jurisprudence, including general awareness of the differences of opinions among different schools of fiqh.
• Strong recitation skills (Hafiz al-Qur’an preferred).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and inspiring messages.
• Proven ability to connect with people of various cultural and social backgrounds.
• Inspirational leadership style with a focus on motivation, inclusivity, and community-building.
• Demonstrated commitment to youth engagement and development.
• Expected to maintain regular and convenient office hours at the Mosque for members of the community who seek counsel and guidance.
• Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Attributes:

• Hafiz al-Qur’an.
• Experience serving as an Imam in a diverse community setting.
• Bilingual ability (English and another commonly spoken community language).

Employment Type: Full-Time, Resident Imam (must reside in Mississauga, ON or nearby).
