Counseling Services
One of the fundamental services AIC provides is that of counseling and social work. This service is essential for our community. Counseling is provided for an array of matters including: family disputes, marriage counseling, mediation, assistance with government forms and information sessions for both groups and individuals.
Professional counseling provides confidential assistance to help people explore issues that are impacting on their life and important relationships. It is important to recognize that all people have emotional difficulties, feel troubled, have problems or feel overwhelmed at certain times during the course of their lives.
AIC provides people with the opportunity to talk with a trained staff member to explore and reflect on issues facing them and empower the person to find effective solutions that work for them.
Our counseling services can assist with the following issues:
- Anxiety, Panic attacks, Phobias
- Anger
- Depression
- Pain Management
- Stress Management
- Sleep disorders
- Communication, Confidence and Assertiveness Issues
- Vocational and Mid Life Issues
- Eating Disorders
- Grief & Loss
- Health Related Issues
In addition to this, AIC employs social workers whose central focus is Muslim women and children. Over many years, AIC has developed a sound referral service based on a close network with service providers. Long-term counseling is also provided for younger children.
The AIC Muslim Association visit children’s hospitals, courts and youth detention centres to support young people in trouble with law.
